Program: El Molino Culinary was present to receive the funds that were raised at the dinner last week. Herman gave an introduction. Rotary Matched funds from the El Molino HS Foundation. Chris Carver was there representing the Foundation.

Our main speaker was District Governor Kevin Eisenberg who was introduced by Lt. Governor Valerie Hulsey. Kevin gave us some background on Rotary, including the origin of the "singing clubs". He talked about the Light Up Rotary theme this year. It is based on the saying from Confucius,"It is better to light a single candle than to sit and curse the darkness." He went on to explain his own motto for the District, bringing "Pride & Joy" to Rotary. He also reminded us of the 6 objectives of the Rotary Foundation:

  1. Eradicate disease
  2. Water and sanitation
  3. Maternal and child health
  4. Literacy and education
  5. Economic independence and sustainability
  6. World peace

  4. Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

The Object of Rotary

The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

1st: The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;

2nd: High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian’s occupation as an opportunity to serve society;

3rd: The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian’s personal, business, and community life;

4th: The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.
